Video Performance
The GoPro HD Naked Hero Camera captures high performance 1080p video as well as 5-megapixel still images. You can also set the video resolution to 960p or 720p at 30 or 60 frames per second. On a full charge, you can record up to 2.5 hours.
The camera can also be set to automatically shoot still photos every 2, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds during your activity.
With the HD Hero’s higher resolution and improved low-light sensitivity, video quality is higher. A spot metering setting improves exposure levels when recording videos from inside a vehicle. Normally, exposure levels are problematic because of the differences in the lighting level outside of the vehicle and the light in the cabin.
At any rate, best results are achieved when capturing images in daylight. Indoor photography is rather poor, with the color taking on a yellowish cast. This has something to do with the camera’s white balance.
Audio Quality
The HD Hero camera boasts of having one of the best sound systems in wearable cameras. While some helmet cameras are plagued with wind noise when recording in the wind, the GoPro HD Hero records only the sounds of your sports or epic adventures.

Camera Mount and Housing
GoPro’s HD Naked Hero Camera comes “naked,” with only one mount designed to be attached to a helmet or other curved surface. The camera also comes with a quick-release housing which protects the camera.
The HD Naked Hero is compatible with other GoPro Hero camera mounting accessories. This allows you to expand the camera’s functionality. You can use different mounting accessories such as suction cup to attach the camera to vehicles, clamps to bike handles and seat posts, or mounts to surfboards. This small hands-free camera can also be worn on the chest or wrist.
The GoPro HD Naked Hero camera comes with a removable polycarbonate housing to protect it from bumps and spills. According to the manufacturer, the housing also keeps it waterproof to a depth of 180 feet (60 meters). Replacement housings and lens kits for repairs are available at affordable prices.
Battery Life
The Lithium-ion battery lasts for 2.5 hours with continuous recording. The camera can be recharged via a computer’s USB port or with a compatible wall or car charger. The camera can be used while it is being charged. An integrated battery heating system keeps the battery warm in winter activities.
Storage and Connectivity
GoPro’s HD Naked Hero camera does not include an SD card, which must be purchased separately. The camera supports SDHC cards up to 32GB. Depending on your video format, a 32GB SD card will be able to store about 4 to 8 hours worth of recording, which is longer than the battery life. The Hero camera can be used for continuous shooting while connected to a power source.

Although it comes with a waterproof housing, some customers warned that it’s more water-resistant than waterproof and should not be used for snorkeling or scuba diving.
While many customers say that the HD Naked Hero takes exceptional videos, they complain about the difficulty of setting it up. The menu is not user-friendly at all and it’s best to have the manual on hand as a guide when setting up the camera.
