To begin using your new camera, simply install a micro SD chip. If you are intending to hold this device then you are all set. If you want to mount it to a helmet or vehicle you must now choose the proper mounting device. This unit can be mounted practically anywhere.

The Drift Innovation HD170 Stealth Action Camera with HD Recording was awarded 4.5 out of a possible five stars in the category of customer satisfaction. Customers were very happy with the size and versatility of this device. They felt that it was a well designed and physically tough device. One customer stated that they were so confident with the rubberized shell that they attached the camera to a pole on the side of their vehicle and knew that it would survive any punishment their vehicle put it through.

They were very happy with how clear the footage was and how well the mount held. Customers were also very happy with the remote watch. They felt that this feature made controlling the device easier than they ever thought it could be. One customer stated that they were able to start and stop the recording without having to take their hands off their motorcycle handlebars. Overall, customers were very pleased with the performance of this device and the quality of the footage it recorded.

There was very little negative feedback in regard to this unit. The most common concern however, is the internal microphone. Several customers felt that the microphone often recorded undesirable sounds. One customer stated that the video footage was wonderful as long as you could remove the audio. Another concern is that the helmet mount is not a clean mount. It relies on Velcro to adhere and if you wish to remove the Velcro it can be messy.

Recording Features
The Looxcie LX1 camcorder comes with a 62-degree field of vision and auto focus. It also features automatic light adjustment. The camcorder records in VGA mode at 30 fps and 4000 kbps bitrate. It can also record in HVGA format at 15 fps for quality video optimized for mobile devices.
Ease of Use
This device comes with a lot of buttons yet only the record button is clearly labeled. Thus, there is a learning curve when using the Looxcie LX1. The instruction manual is a big help when using the camcorder for the first time.
Because of its weight, the headset tends to tilt down and you may not be recording what you are seeing. You can use your phone as a viewfinder, after downloading the required app. However, it can be distracting using the phone as a viewfinder while trying to record at the same time.

Many customers say the concept of a wearable Bluetooth camcorder is awesome. Unfortunately, the Looxcie LX1 Wearable Bluetooth Camcorder still needs a lot of work before it can be perfected. Video quality is not that good yet, especially at 15 frames per second and low resolution. The headset design also needs to be tweaked, as the lens tends to tilt down instead of pointing straight forward. Using your smartphone as a viewfinder may seem like a good idea but it is cumbersome during the actual implementation. The phone apps also need some work as they tend to crash your phone when used for editing your video clips.
The good news is that developers are constantly making improvements on the Looxcie LX1. It can now run at a higher resolution at 480p and 30 frames per second. The Looxcie LX1 fills a need. However, the device is nowhere near perfection, although it’s getting there.
As a work in progress, there is some hope that the Looxcie LX1 Bluetooth camcorder will live up to its name, allowing users to “look,” “see,” and experience life. For now, Looxcie is giving everyone a chance to capture special moments without missing out on life.
